Dear Colleagues: I have no doubt that all of us know the names Dr. Donald Trunkey and Dr. Basil Pruitt. Most of us (maybe all of us) have had the pleasure and privilege of hearing them speak. Many of us have had the pleasure of meeting them. And ALL of us know of the immeasurable contributions that both men have made to medicine in general, and trauma care specifically, both here at home and throughout the world. They are, in my mind, the giants of trauma care - and they have never forgotten that they, like the rest of us, put their pants on one leg at a time. Having said that, it is my pleasure to relay some very exciting news about two very special people: Drs. Trunkey and Pruitt are this year's co-recipients of the King Faisal International Prize for Medicine for 2008. Please refer to the following like for more information: http://www.kff.com/english/kfip/KFIPWinnersCurrent.html I would like to offer my congratulations to two individuals that have been a role model and mentor for all of us, regardless of where we live, or where we practice! Ron
