In most hospitals, the decision to transfuse is different from the nursing protocols written for uniform blood transfusion. Not everyone receiving blood (outside of the trauma bay) has unstable vitals.but there needs to be a specific nursing protocol to protect both the patient and nurse from either careless behaviors or inexperienced practitioners . IN the trauma bay, there should be a standard of care for VS whether the patient is being tranfused or not. A good and experienced nurse does not need a protocol to care for those unstable patients. Hope this helps to answer your question of redundancy. Sue G. Trauma NP **************Make your life easier with all your friends, email, and favorite sites in one place. Try it now.
