My service just switched from carrying 3 of every adult size and 2 of each pediatric size, to now having 3 adult sizable and 2 pediatric sizable c-collars. It is so much better Now when going into a fall patient we only need 1 c-collar instead of carrying the entire bag into someones apartment we now have to only have to bring in one c-collar. I would suggest getting sizable c-collars, they may be more expensive at first to buy but you do not have to order every size, it saves time in ordering, saves room in supply and on your truck. When you are looking a spine boards I suggest finding one that does not have a thin little bar that you strap the boards to. I am unsure what brand we carry but we have just finished phasing out the spine boards that have the little bar to attach the straps to because they break way to easy. --- On Wed, 8/13/08, Hillen Gregory <Gregory.Hillen at oxamb.nhs.uk> wrote: From: Hillen Gregory <Gregory.Hillen at oxamb.nhs.uk> Subject: RE: C-Spine collars.....best for Prehospital use To: trauma-list at trauma.org Date: Wednesday, August 13, 2008, 10:09 PM Dear All, I am currently ordering in stock for our station and would like to get some input as to you recommendations/thoughts on the following: 1) Using the adjustable collars vs rigid non-adjustable. 2) On arrival at ED which seems to do the job best. 3) What would you recommend for pre-hospital use? 4) What is used within your service/area and do you feel they are effective? I do realise that is up to the training, individual preference, space on vehicles etc etc but your thoughts would be appreciated. Regards.
