Joe, Unfortunately, it is NOT an uncommon occurance - there can indeed be pancreatic injury not noted on CT and not noted on initial PE, but one that manifests later on in the course of the day, 12 - 24 hours, in my experience. I guess now the question I would ask is just what are you calling significant, and what is not? Ron >>> <joe.nemeth at mcgill.ca> 4/29/2008 9:36 AM >>> Question: Although it is well known that traumatic pancreatic injury is poorly seen on CT...especially early on, I want to know how many of you have seen significant pancreatic injury which is occult, i.e. benign abdomen on exam... Timing of exam make a difference?... Will let you know why I am asking later... thanks, Joe Joe Nemeth MD Dept. of Emergency Medicine McGill University Montreal -- trauma-list : TRAUMA.ORG To change your settings or unsubscribe visit: http://www.trauma.org/index.php?/community/
