National EMS Museum Foundation Elects 5 New Board of Trustee Members





The National EMS Museum Foundation Board of Trustees elected five (5) new trustees-Tom
Bartlett, Richard “Doc” Clinchy, Bill Metcalf, Mark Peck and Frank
Poliafico-- at their first annual meeting at EMS Expo on October 11, 2007.
These gentlemen join the current 10 board members to fulfill the foundation
bylaw requirement of 15 Board of Trustee members.





Tom Bartlett's (MS) EMS career spans 35 years, beginning with his service as a
volunteer member of a rescue squad during the late 60’s. Tom has served the
museum project for the past year in the capacity of Regional Coordinator
covering the states of AK, LA, and MS, as well as contributing numerous pieces
and conducting research for the Virtual Museum. Generally recognized as a
historian and authority on American EMS development and ambulance equipment
evolution, Tom has also completed a
number of EMS historical projects. 





Richard "Doc" Clinchy III, Ph.D, EMT-P, has over 50 years prehospital
emergency care experience.  Starting as a firefighter in New
York State, his EMS
career has taken him to Pennsylvania and New
Jersey, the US Virgin Islands, Louisiana,
and now Florida.
Doc has held various positions in EMS
as well as founding and operating The American
College of Prehospital Medicine from 1990 until closing the school in
2004.  Now, as owner of ESF8-CON, he is a consultant to and representative
for a variety of tactical and emergency care equipment manufacturers as well as
being involved with the US
military. 









William “Bill”
Metcalf, Fire Chief/Chief Executive Officer of The North County Fire Protection
District (NCFPD), a full service emergency services organization providing fire
protection and emergency medical services in northern San Diego County,
California. Bill has than thirty years of experience in emergency services,
including experience as a paramedic, firefighter, fire/EMS officer, instructor,
state EMS director, senior association executive, and senior publishing
executive.  Twenty years of the
experience at the senior management level.





 





Mark Peck,
EMT-P,  joined
the New York City Emergency Medical Service in 1974 retiring as the Senior
Paramedic in the New York City Fire Department EMS Command after 32 years of
service. Mark has been interested in EMS history for many years, and has
contributed material to the New York City EMS Museum, and the 2004 New York
State Museum exhibit “Help is Here- A History of EMS in New York State”.  He currently works for the Mecklenburg EMS
Agency (MEDIC) in Charlotte NC and has served as the state archivist for NC on
behalf of the museum over this past year.





 





Frank Poliafico, RN, ED-Initial Life Support Foundation began his emergency services career
as a volunteer fire-fighter and ambulance attendant in Chester, PA, in 1071. Frank
served as Director of EMS for New
York City (1977-80) where his many accomplishments included creating the NYC EMS Academy and the categorization of NYC’s 77
Emergency Departments. Frank is a founding member of several leading
professional associations and organizations including the American Trauma
Society, the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and the
National EMS Educators Association.





 





The NEMSM Board of Trustees would like to welcome the
addition of these gentlemen to the board and looks forward to the input and
expertise they each bring to this vital project.
