Caesar. Not just this one article. There are now about six articles. In addition there is an extensive review on the internet. Do a google search for Radiation Risks from CT scans and be prepared for 8 hours of reading from all of your secondary searches and surfing. Normally I make them wait four-six months if the interval scan shows no problems, depending on the severity of the original injury and what I perceive to be the patient's proclivity to common sense, reason and self restraint. In these two cases where such scan will (likely) *not* be forthcoming, I am going to tell them that I *cannot* in good conscience write them such a letter, and that they will just need to decide on their own if and when they will allow their son to resume contact sports and other high risk activities (it's starting to snow here, and the skis and snowboards are getting restless). Curious about what the rest of you would do in my situation. And now I'm off to the library to find that NEJM article. I get the feeling that this will be a recurring matter.
