Ceasar,

I am puzzled as to why my posts haven't been getting through.  What I
did say was that I do not scan and I do not allow the kids to return to
contact sports until the FOLLOWING season.  I have not as yet heard from
any others on the list as to their opinions/practices.

Normally I make them wait four-six months if the interval scan shows
no
problems, depending on the severity of the original injury and what I
perceive to be the patient's proclivity to common sense, reason and
self
restraint.  In these two cases where such scan will (likely) *not* be
forthcoming, I am going to tell them that I *cannot* in good
conscience
write them such a letter, and that they will just need to decide on
their
own if and when they will allow their son to resume contact sports and
other
high risk activities (it's starting to snow here, and the skis and
snowboards are getting restless).  Curious about what the rest of you
would
do in my situation.

And now I'm off to the library to find that NEJM article.  I get the
feeling
that this will be a recurring matter.
