Thanks Pret. The pt is a construction worker-think a wall fell on him.
From what I understood, it is more likely to be a Dx of exclusion. Someone gave a good path description of the injury-hope not all pts end up there.

What exactly was the mechanism of injury here? Frankly, I've read almost
nothing in the thread thus far that distinguishes this as traumatic
asphyxia, at least not over other garden variety blunt chest trauma.
Consult William of Occam. Is it not possible -- and very significant --
that you've leapt to the wrong conclusion?
