Jane,

Sounds like all is forgiven -- in the belt-sander sense of forgiveness.

Step away, and rather than take to silence, try changing the subject. I
suggest trauma.

OK Jane, I am going to give you some advice. Actually it is something
that my wife says to me frequently when I perseverate or obsess on
something that she feels was not significant enough to warrant any
further discussion.....

Here it comes, straight from my better half's lips.....

"GET OVER IT!!!"

And to you and ALL OF YOU on this list, my wishes to you and yours for a
great Thanksgiving, whether you live here (USA) or elsewhere. As I see
it, every day that we, our families and friends stand upright, take
nourishment, and breathe unassisted is a day to give thanks!

So far I've been called everything from Rosie O'Donnell to an
anti-Semite.

It's obvious that something I said has pushed people's buttons, and
although I admit I'm mystified, I am also sorry that it seems to have
generated so much vitriol in return. As I've re-iterated several times,
my intention was not to paint all Christians or all Americans as rabid
right-wingers; I know this is not the case, but I feel like I have to
say ONE MORE TIME, that was NOT MY INTENTION. If folks actually read
what I wrote, instead of reacting to it by knee-jerk, this would be much
more clear. However, I know this is difficult -- I do it myself at
times -- so I will certainly take the lion's share of the responsibility
for the tsimmes that seems to have erupted.

I hope we can let this rest now and I can stop getting the private
emails maligning everything from my employers to the number of letters
after my name.

Thank you. I'm going to be VEWY VEWY QWIET now. I've learned a lot
from this list, and I don't want my presence to be a bad taste in
everyone's mouth.
