amiodarone in D5W

Amiodarone needs to be mixed in glass, it is incompatble with plastic. the only fluid that comes in glass is D5W. If giving a bolus it can be mixed in plastic and given rapidly ie over 10 minutes. However the drip must be made in glass as it precipitates in plastic. It is not the saline but the plastic. It is however incompatible with heparin.? this is per my pharmD.? It is very handy to have a pharmD on the service. they always know the answers to the incompatabilty questions.??

  is there a specific reason that Amiodarone is admin with d5w instead of
NaCl? I searched the net and found info going both ways? does it matter?
