Sequential commpression devices

I remember reading once that sequential compression
devices, did not necessarily need to be applied to the
lower extremities to prevent DVT. That even applying
them  on the arms aided in DVT prophylaxis. Does any
one remember this or am I losing my mind with
advancing age? If you do would you mind sending me the
reference.
