Our portable radio's for the fire department on average, transmit approximately 5 watts Analog). I believe that cell phones on average transmit, about 1 watt of power (Digital). Most hospitals have an ambulance to hospital radio system, that transmit approximately 50 to 100 watts of power (digital/analog). Also the tower on top of the hospital in our town being the highest point, has our Voter/Receiver that transmits approximately 130 watts (Analog). Digital cell phones are more on the order of 100-300 milliwatts (0.1 to 0.3 watts), down from over 3 watts on the old analog bag phones. That's part of the reason why the new digis do so much better on talk time than the old ones did. ck Charles S.
