Just to let all interested parties know. Our portable radio's for the fire
department on average, transmit approximately 5 watts Analog). I believe
that cell phones on average transmit, about 1 watt of power (Digital). Most
hospitals have an ambulance to hospital radio system, that transmit
approximately 50 to 100 watts of power (digital/analog). Also the tower on
top of the hospital in our town being the highest point, has our
Voter/Receiver that transmits approximately 130 watts (Analog).

Digital cell phones are more on the order of 100-300 milliwatts (0.1 to 0.3
watts), down from over 3 watts on the old analog bag phones.

That's part of the reason why the new digis do so much better on talk time
than the old ones did.
