you have no idea who I am, please send me an email simply saying =

somehow.

As many of you will know, I have been selected to go to Antarctica in
December as the expedition doctor for the 47th South African National
Antarctic Expedition.  This expedition will last for a bit more than a =
year,
with our return in February 2009.  During this time we will be resident =
at
the SANAE IV base in Dronning Maud Land, near the coastline of =
Antarctica
closest to South Africa.  I look forward to this incredible, challenging =
but
daunting experience.  Part of the great challenge is the relative =
isolation
- for about 10 months we will be only 10 people at the base, with the
nearest humans more than 200km away - about 14 hours travel in subzero
conditions, if a safe route even existed.  The base, however, is =
equipped
with a satellite connection allowing email and telephone calls.  To this
end, I'm creating an email list to contact you, my friends and family, =
and
keep you informed about the expedition and life on the ice.  I also hope =
it
will generate some responses, to alleviate the isolation.

expedition
(starting now, in the preparation phase), please send me a positive =
response
to this email.  I will count no refusal as positive!  If you would =
prefer
not, please simply email me with the word "REMOVE", and I shall not =
hassle
