Interested in various local approaches to the dislocated hip:
specifically, rules or guidelines on timing of reductions...

... in the absence of immediate orthopedic consultation?
... in the context of unstable pelvis or major acetabular injury?
... in the context of femoral head/neck fractures?

I'm trying to draft some advice for our EM and Trauma clinicians (even
transferring facilities) before presenting to orthopedic surgery for
their advice and consent.  Any sample policies or
straight-from-the-source orthopedic wisdom would abet my desire to
appear smarter than I really am.

I always thought it was nontraumatic in origin. Thought it was related
to pancreatic ischemia, but I can still learn.
