Well, a Republican did appoint C. Everett Koop, who is as personally 
pro-life as they come, but was not willing to push back about about the 
psychic trauma of abortion when the science didn't support it. He has made 
it quite clear that he finds abortion morally abhorrent, but also makes it 
clear that is an individual choice and not his professional opinion.
