small bowel injury

anything that covers enterics and anerobes. I use amp/sulbactam +/- metronidazole in my elective cases and traumas as well.
If I were to get on a soap box about something in the realm of antimicrobial agents, it would be excessive OVER administration of piperacillin/tazobactam (Zosyn). It's the last big gun against pseudomonas and there are many physicians who prescribe it like candy. If they had to deal with resistant pseudomonas in a dying, septic burn patient, they would see the light. But, I've seen it used by general surgeons before putting mesh in a groin hernia! Crazy.

That's my rant.
