Dr. John,

Death from traumatic aphyxia is preventable IF you can remove the physical cause in time. IF the medics could get to him with an endotracheal tube, then it is possible that the patient could have been saved. That's a big IF, however. I would have tried to resuscitate him, nonetheless.
