Lance does not specify what kind of 'attending' doctor was on the  Helo...
 
However, I'll have to agree that the important thing was that the airway  was 
secured for transport...the second most important thing will be for everyone  
to come away from the M&M meeting with egos only bruised, and appropriate  
reevaluation done.
 
I'd have liked to have had at least a bougie or an intubating LMA available  
prior to trying for the surgical airway.
