It's unfortunate that Cochrane's rightful insistence on assiduous
science has cast reasonable suspicion on an assiduous scientist.  But
that's where we are.

The most important lessons here are for us as individuals to take away.
I'll leave it that high-dose mannitol is at best an unproven treatment
for major brain injury; that research co-authors and journal editors
should take more responsibility for their acquiescence; and that a
dedicated doctor and uncommonly valuable human being has been tragically
lost.
