Just make sure that the creatinine is normal, or you just might end up with some element of ATN if you are not careful about protecting those beans pre-scan. Don't forget to make sure that the metformin is stopped for 48 hours afterwards... while a moot point in severe trauma patients who may be expected to be NPO for that long, but there are plenty of diabetics out there who might get 'trauma clearance' scans, where that medication might be a problem. ck Charles S.
