In our center we stopped giving oral contrast material for at least a decade. Several reasons for that;
a. As mentioned it is time consuming.
b. The additive value in diagnosing pancreato duodenal injuries is small. Only if highly suspected from the initial scan we would explore further with oral material.
c. In cases of combined absomino pelvic injuries the contrast material when reaches the lower abdomen disturbs the orthopods during surgery if needed to perform the essential intraop fluoroscopy.
