Interesting review of an economic bestseller by Sharon Brownlee:
"Overtreated"
"We spend between one fifth and one third of our health care dollars,"
writes Ms. Brownlee, a senior fellow at the New America Foundation and
former writer for U.S. News & World Report, "on care that does nothing to
improve our health."

Also attended a lecture by Arnold Relman, former editor of the NEJM who
recently wrote: "Second Opinion", a book about US Healthcare. He advocates
physicians revolting against the current fee for service structure run by
investor owned for profit institutions and insurers and wants us to organize
to set up group practices run and managed by doctors like the Puget Sound
Healthcare system. Otherwise he sees the continuing rising cost of
healthcare in our country destroying the economy. He seems to favor a sort
of "Medicare for Everyone" system: single payer but not single provider.
