I could get a Burn Attending (actually, the Burn Center nurses handled most

of those transfers, and the Burn Attendings were only needed if I required
further advice on how to package/sedate a particularly complex case), I
could
get a Medicine Attending, I could get a Peds Attending, and I could even
get
a Neurosurgical Attending (Anil Nanda's group was great about that) but for
some reason, the best I could get for trauma service was a Fellow....and
they
still wanted the images before accepting...

Then call me (day or night) and I will take any super sick surgical patient
that the origional surgeon is uncomfortable with. I will first try to give
comfort and advice, but if the patient is super sick and the first hospital
and surgeon are uncomfortable or have never been there, then I will accept the
patient. Do what is right for the patient at the time. Politics
Later.
