Stop.  Please.

If there are truths on which all Trauma-List veterans can agree, they
clearly include a) that it doesn't take much to ignite a furious debate
on firearms control; and b) that such debates on the trauma list are
ultimately about as useful as breasts on a bull.

There are myriad other internet outlets for debates on the Second
Amendment; but in the end these arguments NEVER change ANYONE's beliefs.
They serve only to clog our inboxes and ruin our moods.  If you want to
argue for the sake of arguing, please find another list server.

I knew this was coming. Perhaps consideration should be given to the
possibility that if one of those injured/killed students had been
legally carrying a handgun of their own they may have been able to stop
the attacker. 

Self-defense is an individual right and responsibility; you cannot and
should not count on the police to protect you in situations like the one
today in VA.
