Yes, I sign up to that wholeheartedly. I accept it is 'we' not 'you'. Tell someone they need a tetanus shot and they thank you. Tell them to wear a seatbelt and you are lucky just to be sworn at. We as surgeons and physicians must start in our backyards and start with prevention. Piety about disasters in Darfur or Rwanda must take second place to telling our neighbour how best to prevent the next belly we have to open.
