TO: Coalition for American Trauma Care Advisory Council Organizations and HRSA Stakeholders FROM: Marcia Mabee, MPH, PhD; Executive Director, CATC The lame-duck, 109th Congress is currently in session and will attempt to complete all unfinished FY 2007 appropriations bills by mid-December. At stake is $1 million for the Trauma-EMS program provided in the Senate Labor--HHS-Education Appropriations bill. The corresponding House bill provides zero funding. NOW IS THE TIME TO CONTACT YOUR SENATORS AND REPRESENTATIVE (CURRENT, 109TH CONGRESS) TO URGE THEM TO CONTACT, RESPECTIVELY, SENATORS SPECTER AND HARKIN, AND REPRESENTATIVES REGULA AND OBEY TO ENSURE THAT AT LEAST $1 MILLION IS RETAINED FOR THE TRAUMA-EMS PROGRAM IN FINAL LEGISLATION. Attached is a detailed alert with messages and steps for emailing or calling. Please share with your members, as appropriate. Please feel free to adapt and edit the message in any way that is useful for your organization and please post on your legislative action center if you have one.
