Ken et al, I am glad to say that the ark is almost done, and the animals are lining up. Better still is that there has been no loss of life, and amazingly few people displaced. As such, the trauma system has not been called upon nor has the EOC been activated. Property destruction (street flooding and pavement heaves, mud slides, etc) has been fairly substantial in the NW corner of the state, especially in Waterbury (how ironic) where they received 7 inches of rain in just a few hours last week! Obviously our local and state govts will be asking for federal assistance in the form of dollars, but we shall see just how much will be forthcoming. Just the same, we seem to be faring well. I will keep you posted should anything bad occur and our system is, indeed, tested. Best wishes, Ron >>> <KMATTOX at aol.com> 6/7/2006 9:24:02 AM >>> Dr. Ron Gross: At your recent trauma course, one of the subjects presented was regarding disaster preparedness. You had several persons who had been involved in Katrina to talk at the course. Katrina was about winds, flooding, agencies, organization, and responses. At your conference, the state of Connecticut was favorably cited as being prepared and having a good integration of your trauma system personnel with the governmental incident command people. NOW you are in the midst of the greatest rains and flooding in your states history.
