Mark,
I have spent time with many of the innocent victims of this war - and
all of those past.  The vast majority of the people living in the Middle
East are just like you and me - all they want to do is live in peace and
raise their families.  Don't condemn them all, for the vast majority of
those living in the Middle East, Muslims, Jews and Christians alike, are
just like you and me - good people with no malice for anyone.  

Unfortunately for mankind, there is that small but very visible
minority that have no conscience, have no morals and have no value for
human life - and it is all based on the intolerance and hatred for
anyone and everyone who chooses a lifestyle or religious belief that
differs from theirs.  These are the animals that use religion as a club
and a crutch because they have nothing else in  life that means anything
to them.  hatred is all they know, and until those people are wiped off
the face of the earth, the rest of humanity will suffer their ills.

My impression of the "carnage" to which you refer, is that those in
the
middle east have no respect for human life:  they revel in the death
of
themselves and their peers (70 virgins and the like), just as they
celebrate
the death of other innocents, hanging and mutilating the corpses of
our
countrymen, video the beheading of shackled prisoners.  If you like,
the
list can be made much longer.  If you have no respect for your own
lives or
the lives of others, how is it that we would be able to affect a change
that
thousands of years have failed to change?  If it could have been done,
it
would have been done.

Ladies and gentlemen,

This is a trauma list dedicated to the prevention and treatment of
trauma.
The forum has a fairly international membership but maintains a very
strong
North American bias. While that is inevitable due to the numbers of US
members I have noted with dismay a certain lack of concern about the
current
carnage inflicted upon the middle east.

If launching Katyushas on civillians is terrorism then so is the rain
of
ordnance on the Lebanese civillians. If Iran is guilty of supplying
Hezbollah with the rockets; the US government cannot escape
responsibility
as it rushes bombs to Israel. There is more to this story than Fox or
CNN
will convey.

Sanity has to prevail, wrongs need to be righted. I for one wish to
raise a
voice and call my colleagues all over the world to action. Use your
collective influence and stop the killing. If people are being killed
and
maimed then it is our business to try and stop the process any which
way we
can.
