Brain O2 Monitoring in Head Trauma

Any thoughts or opinions on brain tissue oxygenation monitoring for
severe TBI? One of our neurosurgeons is interested in implementing it
here.

The one reference I have in hand (Stiefel, et al: Reduced mortality rate
in patients with severe traumatic brain injury treated with brain tissue
oxygen monitoring. JNeurosurg 103:805-811, 2005) is interesting; but
the numbers are small, especially in terms of functional outcome.

Teach me, everybody.
