Gentlemen, Thanks for your comments. I've got an update. On relaparotomy 24 hours later it looks like the pancreatic injury is not as bad as I feared, only the bottom half of the head is mush (mostly the uncinate) and I think I can get away with just draining it. The bowel is less edematous but she still cannot be closed. Miraculously but adding yet another complication, the fetus is still alive (heartbeat on vaginal U/S). She's going back again tomorrow for feeding tube placement. Washout and hopefully at least skin closure. More info to follow. Bill Bromberg William J. Bromberg Savannah Surgical Group 912 350-7412
