Program at Schwab Rehab Center in Chicago:

the sensory component of the rectal is exam is THE portion of the physical
exam that  determines completeness or incompleteness of the Spinal Cord
Injury. If the individual has sensation on rectal exam (pinprick is ideal),
then the prognosis for improvement approaches 50% of individuals.
