Another alternative are the stethescopes put out by MagnaFortis (www.magnafortis.com). They might not work in a C-141 before take off, but stack a have dozen face cloths folded in quarters on your (simulated) patient's chest and you can still hear lung and heart sounds. Gives you an idea of what you might be able to hear through on scene (that privacy thing). Several of the medics I work with have tossed their Littman's in favor of the MagnaFortis scope.
