Dave,

Tracheal tube introducers are used quite commonly by both ground EMS programs and air medical transport programs. Their utility is well proven by 60 years of use in Europe, and are particularly well suited to Cormack & Lehane grade III and poor grade II views. They are an excellent device for optimizing chances of first attempt success in both unpredicted and predicted difficult intubation. We use them in our regional resource air medical transport service regularly and many of our ground ALS team customers have them in their airway management armamentariums.

Subject: Flextip ETT introducer (boujie)

Hey all,

I was wondering if there is any in/pre-hospital providers that use the boujie
(sp) for suspected difficult intubations? I did some recent training with it,
teaching in the paramedic program at Northeastern Univ in MA, Im under the
assumption that in MA its only approved for Umass medical center EMS and Boston
Medflight. Im thinking about doing a research project to see the use of it as a
back up device, when direct visualization is difficult or impossible, or the use
of it on a c-spine pt that needs intubation? Any thoughts?
