Most EMS providers really don't require much. But, I'll tell you what NOT to do. Almost every hospital provide a space, counter, room or whatever with great fanfare when opening a new ED. Then, almost inevitably within a few months someone will decide that it's prime real estate ABSOLUTELY needed for something else. So, whatever you do, make sure you are committed to keep it that way. Also, make sure you get a buy-in from your nursing staff. They are more territorial than any street gang I've ever run into, and more dangerous. Nothing will mess up a good working relationship faster than giving away a space that they think they are entitled to.
