In a message dated 8/11/2006 12:02:47 P.M. Central Standard Time, Connie at traumafoundation.org writes: Dr. Mattox: Well said; trauma centers are First Receivers in all types of disasters of mass scale, regardless of politics. Let us not have another Charity Hospital, in the dark (ages) anywhere again. Connie Potter, Executive Director National Foundation for Trauma Care (505) 525-9511 Thank you Connie: Perhaps the NFTC should take an international leadership role in assuring that trauma centers like the ones in Beirut, Haifa, etc. have appropriate fuel for their emergency generators, supplies, blood for their surgeries, etc. As a matter of fact we as trauma leaders from around the world have a moral obligation to not abandon our professional colleagues. Our organization NFTC certainly has a strong voice in Washington, and even at the United Nations. I happen to know that the AUB Hospital has only ONE day supply of diesel to fill its tanks today. They are rationing this precious fuel to assure they can function for as long as possible. Kenneth L. Mattox, M.D.
