I look forward to this radio/internet interview. I have no idea what I will say till it comes out of my mouth. I will try to be politically correct. I have learned a great deal about people, politics, and effectiveness during the last 4 weeks. I have also learned about local vs federal command and control. There is not one city in this country, or any country that will not have its "disaster" challenges some time in the future. It is also the local community that is "alone" during the first 48-96 hours after a disaster. The survival of the community, as well as preservation of property and culture is a function of pre planning, vision, anticipation, flexiablilty, and leadership. A significant amount of the intellectual property and leadership of every community reads these list server musings. k In a message dated 10/1/2005 12:21:11 PM Central Standard Time, rafink at attglobal.net writes: On this coming Tuesday morning, from 9 AM to 10 AM (Pacific Daylight Time; 7 hr. earlier than GMT), our own Dr. Kenneth Mattox will be interviewed on my wife's Internet Radio Program, "Full Power Living". The program will consist of discussion of the recent hurricane disasters and disaster planning in general. The program is broadcast, via audio streaming, on the Internet worldwide. To access the program, go to: <http://worldtalkradio.com> and click on the name of the program, "Full Power Living" (Ilene L. Dillon, my wife, is the host). Then, click on "Listen to this Program". You will need Windows Media Player to hear the audio (sorry, Mac folks, QuickTime will not work). The program is a free download if you need it. There is a toll-free call-in number (one for North America, and another for the rest of the world), and I encourage you to call in. The program is rebroadcast exactly 12 hours later (note, since it is not "live", call-ins are not allowed), and is then available on the station's Archives thereafter. CDs of the program will also be available for purchase after a few days. Go to the site earlier to see a brief review of Dr. Mattox's work and see some photos. The program should be informative and instructive. Best, Bob ********************************************** Robert A. Fink, M. D., F.A.C.S., P.
