I am unaware of any data indicating a survival benefit or a decreased
complication rate from trauma because of prehospital needle crics, or needle chest
decompression or even tube decompression in the field. It is not for me to
prove a negative. It is the responsibility for those who propose a useless
and unproven (but popular intervention) to provide data for its use, if they
plan to use that modality.
