Not sure that it matters so much.....nobody seems to complain about radial A lines or even to occasional DP line..........

By way of flogging the obvious, these findings defy the broad observation
that pressure is inversely related to the distance from the pump. I'd love
it if it were true, but it's hard to get an intellectual grip. Especially
for me, whose intellect is pretty greasy.

Has your data been reviewed and/or replicated? If it proves out, it would
be welcome news for bedside providers; but in the absence of supportive
data, one might see your study as weak justification for sloppy care.

Can you provide us with an abstract?

In 1997, several colleagues and I from Stat Flight in New York conducted a
study entitled "Alternate Site Noninvasive Blood Pressure Monitoring". The
research was presented at the Air Medical Transport Conference and
demonstrated no
significant difference in blood pressure readings taken with the cuff placed

in the usual position (upper arm) vs. the forearm using a Propac monitor
during transport in a helicopter.

If you need additional information, please contact me directly - thank you.
