PS - Luddite or not, I perform my laparoscopies with a xiphoid to pubis incision.  I think that the "specific subsets of 
penetrating trauma patients" is indeed unquestionable - and way too small for this Luddite!!!  (Sorry Rao!)

A multicenter trail ( Bronx, Oakland, Sao Paulo)  was  performed 10 years ago 
with ovet 500 cases. The value of laparoscopy  in specific subsets of 
penetrating trauma patients is  unquestinable. Only a surgical Luddite cannot 
recognize this.
