IV Bags: Pre-Spiking?

I've seen it done in the field and in the ED setting. They're good for 24hrs-BUT-watch the temperature in your rig(ambulance). The ED has general precautions they take to prevent tampering, and we do , too--- BUT---- always check the bag and tubing before use.

This is just one way---there are others----------------------------

We have recently observed the practice of pre-spiking IV bags (spiking
the bag, priming the IV set & tubing) so that the IV set is ready for a
trauma patient.

Is this safe practice? If so, how long is the IV setup good for? Is
this common practice in trauma centers?
