Tsunami Disaster

Ronald Gross Rgross at harthosp.org

Well said - so let me put it a bit differently. As MY mother used to
tell me - one who has rarely held his tongue about anything - "We must
be able to disagree without being disagreeable". I do agree that
silence rarely brings progress. But neither does rancor for rancor's
sake.
And on that note I will be still.
Peace,
Ron

> What the Hell does one thing have to do with the other? "True, true
and
unrelated" is about all the credence or justification that I could give
to
that statement! And since when are you, of all people, starting to use
this
site to expound on your political views and/or chastise governments
for
their actions?

Ron,

Perspective - nothing more, nothing less. I am not expounding
political
views - although I can see how this conversation could degenerate into
them
- and hence I have skillfully(!) steered the conversation away from
this.
As you say, I discourage politics for politics sake from this list and,
as
far as I can remember, I have stuck to my principles - as I have now.
As
you can see too from the first line of my paragraph, I was primarily
commenting on the generosity of the American (and other countries')
people.

Separately, whatever anyone's belief or political leanings, your
closing
statement:

"If you haven't got something nice to say, say nothing at all"

is the way of inaction, apathy and passivity. This is not the forum
for
such views - you are quite right, these should be aired elsewhere -
but
silence in the face of adversity rarely leads to change for good.

Please don't let my last sentence detract from the spirit of the
piece.
This shouldn't be what upsets people most about the whole situation.

Karim
