If there is an esophageal injury and the barium extravasates into the mediastinum, one is going to operate and remove it. There are exactly NO articles indicating ANY harm for barium to be used in cases of esophageal trauma. NONE. So, one must question if the radiologist are doing the two tests to double dip un necessarilly. It would not be the first time. k
