Any thoughts, evidence, recommendations for cheap antiemetics or advice
against using antiemetics at all would be much appreciated.
I have been searching for the perfect antiemetic for over 35 years.
Something as tried and true as phenergan or small dose propofol can work but, IMHO
very often nothing can reverse the cycle once begun. Have had some patients
breathe the vapors from an alcohol sponge while being transported to PACU and that
relieved their nausea. Low dose droperidol has been red flagged by the FDA
in the USA yet it seems to work as well as any. Haloperidol does seem like
over kill. Has anyone tried decadron for its combined effect? It will be
interesting to see what comes of your post since the problem is universal and would
be most helpful if anyone has the ultimate solution.
