Needle decompression of stomach: tension gastrothorax

The only thing I don't understand is why not an NG on the
way to the OR? Or did you try and find it unpassable?
I have seen one similar case, albiet due to a remote injury
rather than acute, and decompressed it without difficulty
It, of course, had not vovulated.
Those who have done animal surgery are of course aware of
the technique of decompressing the rumen, the goat
equivilent I suppose
