That which as been studied in swine in major hemorrhage looked good wheever 
they were given HBOC 201 (available commercially for us veterinarians to use 
and I use quite abit of it and use permissive hypothension also a great deal as 
often owners can not afford rapid all out emergency celiotomy for bad 
abdominal bleeds. Please look as J Trauma articles in 2001-2002 NcNeil had a very good 
study in swine that revealed reversal of the anareobic metabloism with a 2000 
ml hemorrhage and only a 250-450 return of volume WITH the HBOC 201 
(Oxyglobin)
