Topic: The management of sports-related concussions, regardless of
participation level, is a hotly debated topic in sports medicine. This
debate centers on the determination of return to participation once
concussion has been diagnosed and forms the subject of this Webinar. Dr.
Collins is a well known sports concussion clinician and researcher and a
member of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Sports Medicine
Concussion Program. He is also a co-developer of ImPACT(c), a computerized
neuropsychological testing system that evaluates the severity of concussion
in athletes and provides a more accurate determination of when an athlete
can safely return to sports following a concussion.

Software: This seminar will use a rich, multi-way, highly interactive
multimedia internet broadcast using vClass
<http://www.elluminate.com/products.jsp> and your Java enabled internet
browser (on either Mac's or PC's). Up to 70 participants can join this free
Webinar on a first-come-first-serve basis on the day of the seminar. Please
visit the Webinar Home Page
<http://server1.circl.pitt.edu/home/collinsnewdev.htm> now, or a few days
before the seminar for one time software installation directions and for
information how to join the live meeting on August 12.

Registration: There is no formal registration or fee (and no CEU's, sorry).
To help plan for adequate "room" capacity it would be appreciated if you
would email a short note to circl at pitt.edu
<mailto:circl at pitt.edu?subject=Concussion%20seminar%20attendance> if you
think you will be attending this web seminar.

Note: The software installation
<http://server1.circl.pitt.edu/home/collinsnewdev.htm> is usually
straightforward, taking about 5 minutes or less on a broadband connection
(20 minutes for dial-up users). However for some people and institutions
(such as CDC and most hospitals), where users do not have full administrator
access to install software on their computer or face potential firewall
issues, a few minutes of IT support will be needed and should be planned
several days ahead of time. To enhance the interactive experience, a
microphone and speakers or an inexpensive microphone/earphone headset is
needed, though users can interact by text chat if necessary.

Supported in part by a Center grant from the CDC's National Center for
Injury Prevention & Control <http://www.cdc.gov/ncipc/ncipchm.htm> to
The University of Pittsburgh Center for Injury Research and Control (CIRCL),
Department of Neurological Surgery
