Have discussed with medical director (again) and he too agrees that no =
diversion/bypass of the closer hospital should not have occurred.  =
In-services planned for staff (again).  Seems threat of lawsuit by =
victims wife (employee of more distant hospital) was the main factor in =
the medic's decision to bypass closer/equally capable ER.

I agree the medics should not waste time on scene with critical patient =
arguing with family regarding destinaiton, however, I feel threat of =
lawsuit more plausible with breach of protocol as occurred here.  Smile =
nice to the family then follow your protocol.
