However doing a bit of shovelling occasionally has enormous = dividends. It helps staff morale, setting an appropriate example for = junior staff by teaching them that the mundane stuff is not beneath you = (ie that you are not asking them to do things that you are not prepared = to do) and lastly that it rarely takes very long. Why isn't a whole = department in chaos with a 6 hour backlog as worthy of some effort as a = single multiply injured patient.=20 Luckily A&E, particularly up here, is increasingly populated by people = who don't do hand surgery, day surgery, orthopaedic surgery, specialty = follow up clinics but who do like seeing patients with emergencies - = both large and small.
