Meant this to be a direct mail, not to the list Apologies Dean (but sure beats the last inadvertent post to the list) -----Original Message----- From: Dean Lutrin [mailto:dean@lutrin.co.za] Sent: 07 March 2002 07:59 AM To: 'trauma-list@trauma.org' Subject: RE: "when to shoot a patient" Sorry, I meant iss... Actually, I am a Jewish guy and I am planning on making aliyah some time in the future. Still deciding where to do surgical training - Israel or South Africa... Praying for Israel every day Dean -----Original Message----- From: trauma-list-admin@trauma.org [mailto:trauma-list-admin@trauma.org] On Behalf Of Michael Stein Sent: 06 March 2002 11:39 PM To: trauma-list@trauma.org Subject: Re: "when to shoot a patient" Hello Dean, As someone who has dealt with the need for triage of casualties I fully understand your point. >Nine or twelve patients requiring surgery (often all with a RTS above 25) often happen to visit > us on a Saturday night - apart from the broken bones and walking > wounded. Even here, in what is considred a near war situation, 10 critically injured victime over a 24 Hr period is considered a mass casualty situation which drains a Level I trauma center's capabilities for quite a few days, and does not happen so often. One question. What is RTS >25 ?? or is it ISS ??
