In fact, Fabian's work was very liberal in criteria for primary colon repair, 
and he was one of the committee putting together the EAST guideline.  It was 
his paper that showed so many of the "classic" exceptions to primary repair 
do not stand up to the light of evidence, and showed that colon repair may be 
done successfully even in the face of hypotension, large contamination, etc 
which so many STILL say are contraindications.
